York, Harrogate and race days

Helicopter charter to York, Harrogate and the races

York and Harrogate are the heart of the county, with a racecourse, a medieval city and a spa town within reach of each other.

  • The Great Yorkshire Show at Harrogate runs from Tuesday 13 to Friday 16 July 2027, according to its organiser
  • York Racecourse’s Dante Festival is in May and its Ebor Festival in August; tell us the date and we check what is possible for arrivals
  • Neither organiser’s page says anything about helicopter arrivals, so we never promise a landing at an event until it is confirmed
  • Read about helicopter charter to the races across Britain

The Dales and country houses

Helicopter charter to the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors

Yorkshire’s country houses, moors and estates are a long drive from London, and an easy flight.

  • Swinton Park, near Masham, says on its own contact page that helicopters may land by appointment on the front lawn
  • Castle Howard, the Dales and the coast at Whitby and Scarborough are within a car journey of an airport landing
  • Shooting parties and weekends away: see helicopter charter for country sports
  • We agree the landing, the fee and the time with the estate for your date

Where we can land

Landing sites in Yorkshire

These come from each place’s own website. Hours and fees change, so we check them again for your date, and every landing is subject to permission.

Swinton Park, near Masham

The estate’s own contact page says helicopters may land by appointment on the edge of the cricket pitch on the front lawn, and publishes the position. It mentions a landing fee, which we confirm with the estate for your date.

Leeds Bradford Airport (EGNM)

The main airport for Leeds, Bradford and Harrogate. Private arrangements are agreed in advance and we handle that for you.

York and Harrogate

We do not plan landings at York Racecourse, Rudding Park, Grantley Hall or any other venue until the venue confirms it in writing for your date. Each can publish different terms from year to year.

Doncaster Sheffield Airport

The airport is closed to passengers at the moment, so we do not use it. We use Leeds Bradford or an estate instead.

A private site

Landing at an estate, a hotel or a field needs the owner’s permission and a suitable site, and we ask for both for you. Read can a helicopter land at my venue?

Plan B

We always agree a second landing option before the flight, in case of weather or a change at the first site.

How it works

Book your helicopter to Yorkshire in three steps

Cost

How much is a helicopter to Yorkshire?

There is no single price for this flight, because it changes with the helicopter, the date, how many of you are flying, how long the helicopter waits and the landing fees at the other end.

Helicopters are priced by flying time, not by the mile. Tell us your plan and a charter specialist sends one clear price, any time of day or night.

  • The type of helicopter, from the AS355 to the Agusta 109 Grand and the H145
  • The date and the time of day
  • One way, return, or a return with waiting time or an overnight stay
  • Landing and handling fees at the other end

Before you fly

What to know before flying to Yorkshire

Where we land

We agree the landing site with you when you book, and ask the site for permission. Every landing is subject to permission and site suitability, and we always agree a plan B.

Luggage and weights

Soft-sided bags fit a helicopter hold better than hard suitcases. Tell us how many bags you have, and each passenger’s weight, when you book, and we will confirm that everything fits.

Weather

Helicopters fly in suitable weather only. If the flight is cancelled because of the weather, you pay nothing, and we will work with you on the earliest alternative. Check conditions on our Battersea Heliport weather page. See also helicopter charter and the weather.

Timing and booking ahead

Arrive at the London Heliport 10 minutes before departure. Book as early as you can for race meetings, the Great Yorkshire Show and summer weekends, and earlier for groups or larger helicopters.

A car at the other end

Our partner Executive Global Travel can meet you with a chauffeur car, timed to the helicopter, so if the flight moves, the car moves with it.

Getting to the heliport

The London Heliport is on the south bank of the Thames at Bridges Court, Battersea SW11 3BE. See getting there and the opening hours.

Questions

Helicopter charter to Yorkshire: your questions answered

Still unsure? Call +44 20 7781 8094 any time.

How long does a helicopter from London to Yorkshire take?

About 1 hr 05 to 1 hr 25 in the air to York and Harrogate, and about 1 hr 10 to 1 hr 35 to the Dales, depending on the helicopter, the routing and the wind. Add 10 minutes to arrive at the heliport before departure.

How much does a helicopter to Yorkshire cost?

The price changes with the helicopter, the date, how many of you are flying, any waiting time or overnight stay and the landing fees. Tell us your plan and we send one clear quote. See helicopter hire prices for examples of other routes.

Where can a helicopter land in Yorkshire?

Swinton Park, near Masham, says on its own site that helicopters may land by appointment, and Leeds Bradford Airport takes private flights by arrangement. A private site needs the owner’s permission and a suitable site.

Is a helicopter quicker than the train to York?

Yes. The fastest trains from King’s Cross to York take about 1 hr 50 according to timetable sites, plus the journey to the station at each end. The helicopter takes about 1 hr 05 to 1 hr 25 in the air and lands close to where you are going.

Can I fly to the Great Yorkshire Show or York Races?

We can plan a flight for the day. The Great Yorkshire Show 2027 runs from 13 to 16 July, according to its organiser. Neither event’s page mentions helicopter arrivals, so we check what is possible with the organiser before we promise a landing.

Can I fly there and back on the same day?

Yes. A same-day return is realistic for a meeting or a race day, and the sunset and the airport’s hours decide the latest return. Tell us your plan and we check both.

Can you carry golf clubs or luggage for a weekend?

Usually, yes. Tell us what you are bringing and each passenger’s weight when you book, and we confirm the right helicopter. Soft bags fit the hold better than hard cases.

What happens if the weather is bad?

If the flight is cancelled because of the weather, you pay nothing. We work with you to find the earliest suitable alternative. See helicopter charter and the weather.

How many people can you carry?

The AS355 carries up to 5 passengers, the Agusta 109 Grand up to 6 and the H145 up to 8. For larger parties we can use more than one helicopter.
