These come from each place’s own website. Hours change, so we check them again for your date, and every landing is subject to permission.

Penzance Heliport

Its own website says it is for day flying under visual flight rules, normally 08:00 to 17:00, about a mile north-east of the town, with a lit concrete pad, a second reinforced grass pad and Jet A1 on request. Visiting helicopters need prior permission.

Cornwall Airport Newquay

The airport’s own site gives aerodrome hours and lists handling companies for private flights. Helicopter arrangements are agreed in advance, and we handle that for you.

Tresco Heliport, Isles of Scilly

The Tresco website says all private and charter helicopter movements must be arranged in advance. Summer hours are 08:30 to 17:00, Monday to Saturday, and there is no fuel.

St Mary’s Airport, Isles of Scilly

The council page says general aviation helicopters need prior permission by email, with at least two hours’ notice. The airport is closed on Sundays and has no fuel.

Land’s End Airport

Its own site says every movement is strictly by prior permission. It is closed on Sundays and lies inside the Land’s End radio zone.

Helicopters are priced by flying time, not by the mile. Tell us your plan and a charter specialist sends one clear price, any time of day or night.

Before you fly

What to know before flying to Cornwall

Where we land

We agree the landing site with you when you book, and ask the site for permission. Every landing is subject to permission and site suitability, and we always agree a plan B.

Luggage and weights

Soft-sided bags fit a helicopter hold better than hard suitcases. Tell us how many bags you have, and each passenger’s weight, when you book, and we will confirm that everything fits.

Weather

Helicopters fly in suitable weather only. If the flight is cancelled because of the weather, you pay nothing, and we will work with you on the earliest alternative. Check conditions on our Battersea Heliport weather page. See also helicopter charter and the weather.

Timing and booking ahead

Arrive at the London Heliport 10 minutes before departure. Book as early as you can for school holidays and summer weekends, and earlier for groups or larger helicopters.

A car at the other end

Our partner Executive Global Travel can meet you with a chauffeur car, timed to the helicopter, so if the flight moves, the car moves with it.

Getting to the heliport

The London Heliport is on the south bank of the Thames at Bridges Court, Battersea SW11 3BE. See getting there and the opening hours.

Questions

Helicopter charter to Cornwall: your questions answered

Still unsure? Call +44 20 7781 8094 any time.

How long does a helicopter from London to Cornwall take?

About 1 hr 20 to 1 hr 45 in the air to Newquay and about 1 hr 30 to 1 hr 55 to Penzance, depending on the helicopter, the routing and the wind. Add 10 minutes to arrive at the heliport before departure.

How much does a helicopter to Cornwall cost?

The price changes with the helicopter, the date, the number of passengers, any waiting time and the landing fees at the other end, so we send one clear quote for your plan. For one example route see our Battersea to Penzance prices page.

Where can a helicopter land in Cornwall?

Penzance Heliport, Cornwall Airport Newquay and Land’s End Airport all take visiting helicopters by arrangement, and a private site or hotel is possible with the owner’s permission. We agree the landing with the site and always have a plan B.

Can you fly to the Isles of Scilly by helicopter?

Yes, with arrangements made in advance. Tresco says all private and charter helicopter movements must be arranged beforehand, St Mary’s needs prior permission and is closed on Sundays, and neither island has fuel. Tell us your dates and we plan the flight around those limits.

Do you fly to Padstow and Rock?

We can fly to Newquay or to an approved site nearby, then a car takes you on to Padstow or Rock. Read Battersea to Rock by helicopter for more detail.

Can I land at my hotel or holiday home in Cornwall?

Possibly. We need the landowner’s permission and a suitable site, and we ask for both for you. Our guide can a helicopter land at my venue? explains what we look at.

Is a helicopter faster than the train to Cornwall?

Yes. The fastest direct trains from Paddington to Penzance take a little over five hours, while the helicopter takes 1 hr 30 to 1 hr 55 in the air, plus 10 minutes to arrive at the heliport and the short transfer from the landing site.

Can I fly one way, or return the same day?

Both are possible. Penzance Heliport is for daytime flying, so in winter a same-day return needs an early start. Tell us your plan and we check the hours at both ends.

What happens if the weather is bad?

If the flight is cancelled because of the weather, you pay nothing. We work with you to find the earliest suitable alternative. See helicopter charter and the weather.

How many people and how much luggage can you carry?

The AS355 carries up to 5 passengers, the Agusta 109 Grand up to 6 and the H145 up to 8. Soft bags fit the hold better than hard suitcases, so tell us what you are bringing and we confirm it fits.
