Jersey and Guernsey

Helicopter charter to Jersey and Guernsey

Jersey and Guernsey are the two largest islands and each has an airport that takes private flights.

  • Jersey Airport’s own page says pilots must file a General Declaration before arrival and before departure, and that crew and passengers are presented to Jersey Aero Club operations
  • Guernsey Airport’s executive handling is by Aiglle Flight Support and Aircraft Servicing Guernsey, and the airport is open 06:30 to 21:00 all year, according to its own site
  • Guernsey asks for a General Aviation Report for every arrival and departure
  • We arrange the paperwork and the handling before you fly

Alderney

Helicopter charter to Alderney

Alderney is the closest of the three to London, about 55 minutes to 1 hr 10 in the air.

  • The airport’s own page says a handling agent is not needed for private flights, and gives summer and winter opening hours that differ by day of the week
  • A General Aviation Report is needed, and the electronic copy is shown to security for airfield access
  • The island is small and quiet, so tell us when you want to leave and we plan the day around the hours
  • A return from Alderney to Guernsey needs no report between the two islands

Where we can land

Airports in the Channel Islands

These come from each airport’s own website and the two governments. Rules change, so we check them again for your date, and every landing is subject to permission.

Jersey Airport (EGJJ)

Pilots file a General Declaration before arrival and before departure, and crew and passengers are presented to Jersey Aero Club operations. The airport’s page says visiting aircraft under three tonnes are handled by the Aero Club.

Guernsey Airport (EGJB)

The airport’s own site names two executive handlers, asks for advance notice for parking, and says a General Aviation Report is needed for each arrival and departure. It is open 06:30 to 21:00.

Alderney Airport (EGJA)

The airport’s page says no handling agent is needed for private flights. A General Aviation Report is required, and the opening hours depend on the season and the day.

Helicopter arrangements

The airports’ private aviation pages describe their processes in general. We confirm the apron, parking and timings for a helicopter with each airport for your date.

Sark

Sark has no airport, so we do not plan helicopter landings there. Land at Guernsey or Alderney and ask us about onward travel.

A private site

Landing at a hotel or private site on the islands needs the owner’s permission and a suitable site. We only plan it when both are confirmed. See can a helicopter land at my venue?

Cost

How much is a helicopter to the Channel Islands?

There is no single price for this flight, because it changes with the helicopter, the date, how many of you are flying, how long the helicopter waits and the landing fees at the other end.

Helicopters are priced by flying time, not by the mile. Tell us your plan and a charter specialist sends one clear price, any time of day or night.

  • The type of helicopter, from the AS355 to the Agusta 109 Grand and the H145
  • The date and the time of day

Before you fly

What to know before flying to the Channel Islands

Where we land

We agree the airport and the handling with you when you book, and confirm them with the airport for your date. Every landing is subject to permission, and we always agree a plan B.

Luggage and weights

Soft-sided bags fit a helicopter hold better than hard suitcases. Tell us how many bags you have, and each passenger’s weight, when you book, and we will confirm that everything fits.

Weather

Helicopters fly in suitable weather only. If the flight is cancelled because of the weather, you pay nothing, and we will work with you on the earliest alternative. Check conditions on our Battersea Heliport weather page. See also helicopter charter and the weather.

Timing and booking ahead

Arrive at the London Heliport 10 minutes before departure. Book as early as you can for summer weekends and school holidays, and earlier for groups, larger helicopters or an overnight stay.

Passports and paperwork

Bring a passport or photo ID for every passenger. Entry rules vary with nationality, so tell us each passenger’s nationality when you book. We arrange the aircraft paperwork the islands ask for.

A car at the other end

Our partner Executive Global Travel can meet you with a chauffeur car, timed to the helicopter. The London Heliport is at Bridges Court, Battersea SW11 3BE: see getting there.

Questions

Helicopter charter to the Channel Islands: your questions answered

Still unsure? Call +44 20 7781 8094 any time.

How long does a helicopter from London to Jersey or Guernsey take?

About 1 hr 05 to 1 hr 25 in the air to Jersey or Guernsey, and about 55 minutes to 1 hr 10 to Alderney, depending on the helicopter, the routing and the wind. Add 10 minutes to arrive at the heliport before departure.

How much does a helicopter to the Channel Islands cost?

The price changes with the helicopter, the date, the island, how many of you are flying, any waiting time or overnight stay, and the landing and handling fees. Tell us your plan and we send one clear quote. See helicopter hire prices for examples of other routes.

What paperwork do I need to fly a private helicopter to the islands?

Jersey’s airport says pilots file a General Declaration before arrival and before departure. Guernsey and Alderney ask for a General Aviation Report for each arrival and departure, with none needed between the two islands. We arrange the aircraft paperwork for you, and you bring a passport or photo ID.

Can the helicopter land in Jersey, Guernsey and Alderney?

Each island has an airport that takes private flights. We confirm the handling, the parking and the timings for a helicopter with the airport for your date, and always agree a plan B.

Is a helicopter quicker than the ferry or a scheduled flight?

Condor’s own route pages give about three hours from Poole to Guernsey and about four hours to Jersey, and you still have to reach Poole. The helicopter takes under an hour and a half in the air from central London, and leaves when you are ready.

Can I fly to Sark by helicopter?

Sark has no airport, and we do not plan helicopter landings there. You can land at Guernsey or Alderney and ask us about onward travel.

Can I take my dog or other pet?

Pets can travel by prior arrangement. The islands have their own rules for animals, so tell us what you are bringing before you book and we check the current rules for you.

Can I fly one way, or return the same day?

Both are possible. A same-day return is realistic for a business trip or a long lunch, and the airports’ opening hours decide the latest return time. Tell us your plan and we check the hours at both ends.

What happens if the weather is bad?

If the flight is cancelled because of the weather, you pay nothing. We work with you to find the earliest suitable alternative. See helicopter charter and the weather.

How many people and how much luggage can you carry?

The AS355 carries up to 5 passengers, the Agusta 109 Grand up to 6 and the H145 up to 8. Soft bags fit the hold better than hard suitcases, so tell us what you are bringing and we confirm it fits.
