Where we can land
Airfields on the Isle of Wight
These come from each airfield’s own website. Hours change, so we check them again for your date, and every landing is subject to permission.
Its own website says the airport is open, with hours of 09:30 to 16:30 British Summer Time, and that prior permission is required online at all times. The page does not mention helicopters or fuel, so we agree both with the airport.
The airfield’s own site gives a contact address and telephone number. We ask the airfield about helicopter arrivals and permission for your date.
We have not found any Cowes, Ryde or Ventnor hotel that says on its own site that it takes helicopters, so we do not plan landings at hotels there without the owner’s written agreement.
Landing at a private house or field needs the owner’s permission and a suitable site, and we ask for both. Read can a helicopter land at my venue?
The island’s airfields have limited opening hours, so a same-day return is planned around them. Tell us the day and we check the sunset and the hours.
We always agree a second landing option before the flight, in case of weather or a change at the first site.
How it works
Book your helicopter to the Isle of Wight in three steps
- 1Tell us where and whenThe date, how many of you are flying, where you want to land, and if you would like to return the same day or later.
- 2We agree the landing and your priceWe contact the airfield or site, ask for permission and agree a plan B. You then receive one clear price. Landing fees charged by the site are shown where they apply.
- 3Fly from BatterseaArrive at the London Heliport 10 minutes before departure. Your helicopter flies the direct line, above the roads.
Cost
How much is a helicopter to the Isle of Wight?
There is no single price for this flight, because it changes with the helicopter, the date, how many of you are flying, how long the helicopter waits and the landing fees at the other end.
Helicopters are priced by flying time, not by the mile. Tell us your plan and a charter specialist sends one clear price, any time of day or night.
- The type of helicopter, from the AS355 to the Agusta 109 Grand and the H145
- The date and the time of day
- One way, return, or a return with waiting time or an overnight stay
- Landing and handling fees at the other end

Your helicopter
Choose your helicopter
Pick by party size and style. We will advise on the best choice for your trip.
A reliable twin-engine helicopter and our most economical choice for a small party travelling light.
Quick and refined, with panoramic windows and a comfortable cabin for the crossing.
More room for a larger party and its luggage. Ask us about availability for your dates.
Before you fly
What to know before flying to the Isle of Wight
We agree the landing site with you when you book, and ask the site for permission. Every landing is subject to permission and site suitability, and we always agree a plan B.
Soft-sided bags fit a helicopter hold better than hard suitcases. Tell us how many bags you have, and each passenger’s weight, when you book, and we will confirm that everything fits.
Helicopters fly in suitable weather only. If the flight is cancelled because of the weather, you pay nothing, and we will work with you on the earliest alternative. Check conditions on our Battersea Heliport weather page. See also helicopter charter and the weather.
Arrive at the London Heliport 10 minutes before departure. Book as early as you can for Cowes Week and the summer festivals, and earlier for groups or larger helicopters.
Our partner Executive Global Travel can meet you with a chauffeur car, timed to the helicopter, so if the flight moves, the car moves with it.
The London Heliport is on the south bank of the Thames at Bridges Court, Battersea SW11 3BE. See getting there and the opening hours.

Questions
Helicopter charter to the Isle of Wight: your questions answered
Still unsure? Call +44 20 7781 8094 any time.
How long does a helicopter from London to the Isle of Wight take?
About 25 to 35 minutes in the air from the London Heliport in Battersea, depending on the helicopter and the wind. Add 10 minutes to arrive at the heliport before departure.
How much does a helicopter to the Isle of Wight cost?
The price changes with the helicopter, the date, how many of you are flying, any waiting time and the landing fees. Tell us your plan and we send one clear quote. See helicopter hire prices for examples of other routes.
Where can a helicopter land on the Isle of Wight?
Bembridge Airport and Isle of Wight Airport at Sandown are the two airfields we look at first, each by prior permission. A private site needs the owner’s permission and a suitable site.
Is a helicopter quicker than the train and ferry?
Yes. Wightlink gives most train journeys from Waterloo to Portsmouth Harbour as about 1 hr 40, and its FastCat then takes about 22 minutes to Ryde. The helicopter takes about 25 to 35 minutes from central London.
Can you fly me to Cowes Week?
Cowes Week 2027 runs from 31 July to 6 August, according to the organiser. The organiser’s page does not mention helicopters, so we check what is possible for your date and plan the landing with you.
Can I fly there and back on the same day?
Yes. A same-day return is realistic because the flight is so short, and the airfield’s opening hours decide the latest return. Tell us your plan and we check the hours.
Can the helicopter wait for me?
Yes, or it can fly back and return for you. A waiting helicopter adds to the price, so tell us how long you will be and we price the best option.
What happens if the weather is bad?
If the flight is cancelled because of the weather, you pay nothing. We work with you to find the earliest suitable alternative. See helicopter charter and the weather.
How many people and how much luggage can you carry?
The AS355 carries up to 5 passengers, the Agusta 109 Grand up to 6 and the H145 up to 8. Soft bags fit the hold better than hard suitcases, so tell us what you are bringing and we confirm it fits.
