Epsom Races helicopter charter is one of the shortest flights we offer, taking about 10 minutes from Battersea to the Surrey Downs. The racecourse sits just off junction 9 of the M25, and Derby traffic can queue for a long time. A helicopter lets you skip all of it and arrive in style.
Why choose Epsom Races helicopter charter
Epsom Downs Racecourse is about 10 nautical miles from the London Heliport. The 2027 Derby Festival runs on Friday 4 and Saturday 5 June, with Ladies Day and the Oaks on Friday and Derby Day on Saturday. These are two of the best-known days in the racing year.
The racecourse says it welcomes helicopter arrivals on race days. It also describes a designated helipad in the centre of the course for Ladies Day and Derby Day, with passengers escorted to a private enclosure on arrival. As a result, a helicopter charter to Epsom is simple, although you still need a race-day ticket.
How the flight to Epsom works
You depart from the London Heliport in Battersea. The straight-line distance to Epsom Downs is about 10 nautical miles, and the flight typically takes 5 to 10 minutes, depending on the helicopter, the routing and the wind. Please arrive 10 minutes before departure.
- To arrange Epsom Races helicopter charter, tell us your date, your group size and whether you want a return flight.
- Derby Festival landings run through the racecourse’s own arrangements, so we check the current process for your date and book early. Every landing is subject to landing permission and site suitability.
- On other days, the racecourse says a landing on the Downs needs prior approval, and we arrange that for you.
If the flight is cancelled because of the weather, you pay nothing. To see what we check before every flight, read our guide to helicopter charter and the weather.
