Getting from the helicopter to City Ground
Nottingham is under an hour from Battersea by helicopter, which makes a same-day match day realistic for an afternoon kick-off. East Midlands Airport is the nearest main airport, and the drive into the city is the part we time with the car.
- East Midlands Airport is the nearest main airport we can name for the City Ground, and we agree the arrival with its private aviation team
- Football grounds are built into streets and car parks and are not approved helicopter sites, so we do not plan a landing at the City Ground itself
- The last stretch is a car: about 30 minutes by car from East Midlands Airport
- Tell us where in Nottingham you want to be dropped off and picked up, and we time the car to the helicopter

Still unsure? Call +44 20 7781 8094 any time.
How long does a helicopter from London to City Ground take?
About 45 minutes in the air, for the 110 miles in a straight line from the London Heliport at Battersea to Nottingham, worked out at 140 mph in an Agusta 109. Wind, routing, air traffic and a fuel stop on the longer flights change that, and you also need time for the car at the other end.
Can a helicopter land at the City Ground?
No. The City Ground sits among streets, car parks and stands and are not approved helicopter sites, so we do not plan a landing there. We land at an airfield or a site we have confirmed, and a car takes you to the ground. East Midlands Airport is the nearest main airport we can name.
Can I fly home the same night after the match?
Sometimes. The London Heliport takes its last landing at 22:55 and no flights are allowed between 23:00 and 07:00. With the flight home taking about 45 minutes and about 40 minutes from the final whistle to take-off, the latest kick-off that works for a same-night return is about 19:00. For a later kick-off we plan an overnight stay and an early flight the next morning. See the heliport opening hours.
Do you sell match tickets or hospitality?
No. We fly you to Nottingham and arrange the car. Tickets and hospitality come from the club or an official agent, and you send us the fixture, the kick-off time and the number of people when you book the flight.
How much is a helicopter to City Ground?
There is no single price for Nottingham, because it changes with the helicopter, the date, how many of you fly, how long the helicopter waits and the landing fees. A return for a match day is priced differently from a one-way flight. Tell us the fixture and we send one clear price, any time of day or night. Our helicopter hire prices page shows what other routes cost.
How many people can fly?
The Agusta 109 Grand carries up to 6 passengers, the AS355 up to 5 and the H145 up to 8. For a larger group flying to Nottingham we can use more than one helicopter.
What if the kick-off time changes for television?
Tell us as soon as the club announces a change to the Nottingham fixture. We move your flight where the heliport hours, the landing site and the crew allow, and we say plainly if the new time rules out a same-day return.
What happens if the weather is bad?
If your flight to Nottingham is cancelled because of the weather, you pay nothing, and we work with you on the earliest alternative. See helicopter charter and the weather.
