- We land at Liverpool John Lennon Airport, not at Anfield, and a car is timed to the helicopter

From the landing site to the ground
Getting from the helicopter to Anfield
Most of the pain on a Liverpool match day is the last few miles, not the journey up. A landing at the airport on the south side of the city, and a car that is waiting and knows the match day routes, takes that part out.
- Liverpool John Lennon Airport is the nearest main airport we can name for Anfield, and we agree the arrival with its private aviation team
- Football grounds are built into streets and car parks and are not approved helicopter sites, so we do not plan a landing at Anfield itself
- The last stretch is a car: about 25 to 35 minutes by car, and longer around kick-off
- Tell us where in Liverpool you want to be dropped off and picked up, and we time the car to the helicopter
Match day timing
Planning the day from Battersea
A match day in Liverpool by helicopter is planned backwards from the heliport’s closing time and forwards from the kick-off.
- The flight is about 75 minutes in the air, worked out at 140 mph over the straight-line 180 miles from the London Heliport
- Allow about 40 minutes from the final whistle at Anfield to take-off: the walk, the car and boarding
- For a same-day return from Anfield the latest kick-off is about 18:30, so that you land back at Battersea by 22:55
- Evening and weekend returns from Liverpool after the normal hours need the heliport to agree an extension, so tell us the fixture early

Questions

Still unsure? Call +44 20 7781 8094 any time.
How long does a helicopter from London to Anfield take?
About 75 minutes in the air, for the 180 miles in a straight line from the London Heliport at Battersea to Liverpool, worked out at 140 mph in an Agusta 109. Wind, routing, air traffic and a fuel stop on the longer flights change that, and you also need time for the car at the other end.
Can a helicopter land at Anfield?
No. Anfield sits among streets, car parks and stands and are not approved helicopter sites, so we do not plan a landing there. We land at an airfield or a site we have confirmed, and a car takes you to the ground. Liverpool John Lennon Airport is the nearest main airport we can name.
Can I fly home the same night after the match?
Sometimes. The London Heliport takes its last landing at 22:55 and no flights are allowed between 23:00 and 07:00. With the flight home taking about 75 minutes and about 40 minutes from the final whistle to take-off, the latest kick-off that works for a same-night return is about 18:30. For a later kick-off we plan an overnight stay and an early flight the next morning. See the heliport opening hours.
Do you sell match tickets or hospitality?
No. We fly you to Liverpool and arrange the car. Tickets and hospitality come from the club or an official agent, and you send us the fixture, the kick-off time and the number of people when you book the flight.
How much is a helicopter to Anfield?
There is no single price for Liverpool, because it changes with the helicopter, the date, how many of you fly, how long the helicopter waits and the landing fees. A return for a match day is priced differently from a one-way flight. Tell us the fixture and we send one clear price, any time of day or night. Our helicopter hire prices page shows what other routes cost.
How many people can fly?
The Agusta 109 Grand carries up to 6 passengers, the AS355 up to 5 and the H145 up to 8. For a larger group flying to Liverpool we can use more than one helicopter.
What if the kick-off time changes for television?
Tell us as soon as the club announces a change to the Liverpool fixture. We move your flight where the heliport hours, the landing site and the crew allow, and we say plainly if the new time rules out a same-day return.
What happens if the weather is bad?
If your flight to Liverpool is cancelled because of the weather, you pay nothing, and we work with you on the earliest alternative. See helicopter charter and the weather.
